Howdy everyone - in the monthly node call on Tuesday there was some discussion of providing more documentation or guidance for new users registering to this forum and how to use Discourse - particularly around notifications, following certain topics, maybe unique features or other things that I would particularly like the community to note.
I’ve expanded the “Discourse Help” post in the “Site Feedback” section of this site to create a more thorough “EaaSi Community Forum - New User Guide”. I would appreciate it if folks could take a look and give feedback on whether this is what you were looking for (paging @LaurenW , @z.furs , etc!) I tried particularly to explain some of the default behavior that the Forum should show people with emails and notifications, then how to adjust that.
My main concern is of course trying to make sure this guide gets put somewhere where new users are likely to see it. I tried pinning it as a “Banner” topic that appeared at the top of every single Forum page but trust me - it looked terrible (Banner topics are meant to be very short, so it doesn’t help that the post is a bit lengthy, with images etc)
So instead I’ve pinned the topic such that it always appears at the top of the Site Feedback category, or at the top of all posts if you ever click on the “Latest” posts button at the top of forum. Is there more that I can/should do here to make this a better reference? Should I copy and pin it to the top of every single Category in the Forum? Is there more information or guidance that needs to be in there? Anything that would help you feel better about linking colleagues at your nodes or other interested onlookers?
Cheers!
