Are you able to reproduce the issue or did it happen once? What steps can you take to repeat the issue? What did you expect to occur and what was the actual outcome?

The issue keeps happening. There is no place to choose .iso, or floppy, on the import object page which should be there per the instructions. Or am I missing something?

Urgency: If possible, please give an indication of how urgently the issue needs to be addressed - is there a timeline or deadline (e.g. upcoming demo, researcher request, etc.) that EaaSI support staff should be aware of?

hi @Cynde_Moya! we will investigate the error message you’re seeing and reply ASAP if it is a separate issue, but you should be able to select “ISO” on the import Content page via the “Physical Format” dropdown menu that appears once you have selected a file to import:

As I say, I’m not 100% sure that is related to the error message you’ve reported, but can you confirm that you can see and use that dropdown selector?

I found that way to choose ISO. But continue getting the same error with ISO chosen.

I’m having this issue uploading this ISO as well, and I have selected ISO in the spot where Ethan has indicated in his screenshot.

Hi @Cynde_Moya and @dianne.dietrich! Can you please confirm, does this error actually prevent the upload from completing, or does the “501 Great Games” ISO still ultimately appear as a Content resource in your Imported Resources (and/or on the Explore Resources" menu)? From what we can tell, the imports appear to be successful on the back-end (the ISO objects upload to your node’s storage), so we need to track down why and when the interface throws such an error.

If it does not initially appear in your resources - does logging out and then immediately logging back in again cause the ISO to appear?

Ethan, I can confirm it’s not showing up in my Imported Resources Page. I just logged in anew from earlier today, as well.

I’m also having trouble uploading the file. I’ve tried Firefox and Chrome (on Windows) but same problem. When I open the inspector and look at network traffic, no data is being transmitted. When I hit refresh on the stalled page (swirling EaaSI “beach ball”) an error message briefly appears but it’s too fast to read.

Thanks for the follow up @sre531 and @dianne.dietrich! From what we can tell, the files appear to successfully import to storage, so we are trying to track down 1) why they don’t appear correctly to you in the interface, and 2) why this seemingly is only happening for some, not all users.

Could anyone still having issues with the “501 Great Games” ISO instead please try instead importing a different Content resource - something small, any text file would do (there are a couple provided in the eaasi sample corpus under content → Files)

Please try to complete a Content import with the selected file as a “Files” type object in the Physical Format dropdown menu, and report back whether the import appears as a Content resource on your Imported Resources page. If it is possible to open your browser inspector while going through the import, particularly the “Network” tab, and report any error that shows up in red, that would be helpful, to see if there is an API call we can narrow down the issue to.

I’m having the same problem with another largish file (177MB) - trying to upload NetLogo installer.

I was successful in importing SALESTOT.XLS as a content file/type=file, and see it as a content file in my resources tab.

@ethan.gates – I tried 501 Great Games again this afternoon, and it worked, but it took a very long time. (I actually minimized the window and came back to it after 15 minutes, by which point it had actually finished.) Perhaps there’s something timing out for everyone?

thanks for the reports back, all, and for a snapshot of the network failure from the inspector, @Cynde_Moya

Oleg is investigating this as an error related to refreshing user-tokens. There was an issue with the logged-in user’s token becoming automatically inactive an hour after logging in, no matter what - meaning, even if you stayed logged in to your browser tab (or closed the tab, went and did something else, then came back to EaaSI within the hour) and were actively trying to complete a long-running process (like a 10-15-minute upload on larger files), at the hour mark the platform would lose track of the active user that was trying to run the process, which in turn would cause issues completing the upload. The user token refresh limit has been bumped to 4 hours (while we work on a more robust solution), which may have solved the issue on longer uploads for some, but we’re still digging.

Current workaround, if you are not sure how long you have been logged in to EaaSI, would be sure to log out and log back in again right before attempting a larger upload like (many) ISO files. @Cynde_Moya can you confirm if an ISO upload still doesn’t work for you immediately after a fresh login?

I am having trouble uploading resources (large ISO files) again. I don’t know if anyone else is having this difficulty as well, or has had this difficulty recently.

A reply to my own reply! I got a smaller upload to work. I followed @ethan.gates 's advice and attempted the upload immediately after login.

thanks for the report and follow-up, @dianne.dietrich - part of the upcoming batch of updates (pending resolution of deployment issues) should resolve some of the troubles with large imports, and I’ll return to this thread to check with folks. The switch to s3-compatible file storage handles these imports more gracefully, though I will still likely recommend attempting large ISO imports on a wired connection rather than wifi, as I have still had problems with interrupted connections on multi-GB uploads

Hi
AusEaaSI has been timing out when uploading large files that are .ISO, one was 3.33G and the other was 7.78G.
Is there a workaround other than restarting the AusEaaSI session and uploading into that fresh login?
