EaaSI Hosted Nodes are LIVE

Hello @spn_pilot!!!

Thank you all once again for your patience during our testing and stabilization of the EaaSI hosted service. I’m happy to say that we are ready for pilot participants to start logging in, explore the updated EaaSI platform, and running through our prepared testing/training activity. You can navigate to https://hosted.eaasi.cloud and log in using individual credentials provided in the instructions linked below.

As with previous activities, your instructions for the activity can be found in your Shared Google Drive workspace, under “Hosted Emulation Services: Testing Protocol, Part I”. The goal of this activity is to quickly accustom users to intended workflows and vocabulary in the EaaSI platform, check the effectiveness of our existing documentation, establish the community procedures for identifying, reporting and if need be fixing questions or issues with the platform, and - last but not least - START ADDRESSING YOUR USE CASES!

To repeat a couple important points from the instructions here:

  • Each hosted node has been initially set up with an Admin account for each Node Lead. Node Leads were originally identified when signing on to participate in the hosted service pilot. Once the initial Node Lead/representative has logged in and set up their account, they will be able to add further accounts for their organization’s node as desired using EaaSI’s Node User Administration features (you are more than welcome to add more users than the individuals originally identified as part of your node team back in January, if you wish!). This initial Admin user or users are specified in each org’s testing protocol document.

  • If this poses a problem for testing your hosted service node (e.g. a Node Lead is currently out-of-office or otherwise unable to immediately create accounts for other team members), please let the EaaSI support team know in the Community Forum, and we will assist as quickly as possible with getting other users access to your org’s hosted node.

Lastly, I would like to clarify and set some expectations: there are still a handful of known issues with the EaaSI interface identified during our testing. Obviously, we have decided that they are not blockers to opening access to the hosted nodes or performing core actions in the EaaSI platform (running, evaluating, and saving digital materials in emulated computing environments). We are working to resolve them ASAP and will keep a post of our "Known Issues with the Hosted Service’’ pinned in the Support Center, and update until those issues are resolved.

Lastly, Klaus and Oleg are out-of-the-office today (Monday, May 24th) due to a German holiday today

(If you see an issue or have a question, and are uncertain whether it is a known issue or limitation of the hosted service or not, do ask - I will be happy to clarify!)

At any point once the hosted service nodes are live, we may need to temporarily restrict access for maintenance, bugfixes or (as we get on later in the year) feature updates. Any planned downtime will be announced in this Forum space, along with a notice when expected service is returned, and, if appropriate, release notes or details on expected changes or fixes. We will do our best to schedule planned downtime outside of normal work hours but do bear with us considering the spread of time zones involved with SPN participants!

On behalf of the entire EaaSI team, we are so excited to finally have these hosted nodes up, and are so excited for the conversations and test cases to come!
