Emulation Error. Starting server-side component failed! Could not create local COW file

Hi. Trying to deploy new EaaSi installation from scratch. Ansible eaasi-installer finished without error.
demo_ui is accessible, able to login, able to import image. After creating environment and using imported .img file with bootable system want to run environment, but this “couldn’t create local COW error” appears. Do you have any idea whats wrong?

Hello @cosmocz, thank you for posting! I’ll also ask @oooleg to take a look at your output here when he has the chance, but: running an environment always generates a temporary COW file at the start of the session (if you choose to save any alterations made during the session as a new environment or revision, that COW file gets saved with the original .img as the backing image; if you just exit and don’t save the environment, the temporary COW will just get discarded).

So if the system can’t create a COW file in the first place, it sounds like there might be a permissions issue? What is the user/group owner on the /image-archive directory in your root /eaasi folder? It should match the user info provided in the hosts.yaml config file during installation.

Yes. Users match and have rwxrwxr-x perms.
I installed it into /home/user/eaasi directory as root EaaSi directory instead of /eaasi in root of file system. But could reinstall it from scratch again in few minutes if this is problem and place into /eaasi.

When I log in into running eaas container the /eaas/image-archive directory is owned by bwfla, group bwfla and and have rwxrwxr-x perms as well.

Testing “problematic” server with EaaSi installation have public IP. If you send me your public ssh key to email address mentioned in my forum profile I could grant you access to ssh. Maybe this will be fastest way to find the problem. If you will be so kind.

Thanks for the further info, and the offer. That’s about as far as my knowledge of the necessary permissions and configuration goes, so appreciate the offer but at this point I’ll have to wait for @oooleg to have a chance to take a look here, and we can set up a ssh session if he thinks that’s the best way forward :+1:

Hi @cosmocz! Provided logs contain only a small subset of the stacktraces and it’s not possible to tell what goes wrong here based on them. SSH access to the server will probably be the fastest way to debug the issue. I’ve sent you my SSH key in a private message.
